The general secretary of the AIADMK Ms Jayalalithaa has assured that steps would be taken to accord Scheduled Caste status to Dalit Christians after the AIADMK comes to power. Campaigning in the Kanyakumari district, Ms Jayalalithaa assured that assistance would be extended to enable Christians to undertake pilgrimage to Jerusalem. 




Ms Jayalalithaa commenced her 10th day's campaign in Kanyakumari today. Speaking among the thousands of people gathered there, Ms Jayalalithaa gave the assurance that steps would be taken to accord Scheduled Caste status to Dalit converts to Christianity.



Ms Jayalalithaa introduced to the voters the AIADMK's Kanyakumari constituency candidate K T Pachchaimal. Following this, she left for Nagercoil. Thousands of people gathered on both sides of the road to welcome her during the 18 kilometer stretch. Enroute, she was welcomed with the traditional Poornakumbam on behalf of the Suchindram Thaanumaalaiya Swami temple.



At Nagercoil, she addressed a massive gathering. She assured them that the Nagercoil municipality would be upgraded to Corporation status.



Ms Jayalalithaa introduced the AIADMK's Nagercoil constituency candidate Nanjil A Murugesan. Subsequently, she went to Colachal where she addressed a sea of humanity. She said that the Colachal and Chinnamuttam ports would be expanded after the AIADMK comes to power.



Ms Jayalalithaa introduced the AIADMK's Colachal constituency candidate P Lawrence, Killiyur constituency candidate R George, the Vilavankode constituency CPM candidate Leema rose, and the Padmanabapuram constituency DMDK candidate Austin.



After this, Ms Jayalalithaa visited Tirunelveli where she told the thousands of people gathered that firm steps would be taken for the development of education and economic condition of the minorities.



Ms Jayalalithaa said that mining of sand from the Tamirabharani river would be banned to safeguard the precious water resource.


Ms Jayalalithaa introduced the AIADMK's candidate for Tirunelveli constituency Nainar Nagendran, the Nanguneri constituency Samathuva Makkal Katchi candidate A Narayanan, Palayamkottai constituency CPM candidate V Palani, and the Radhapuram constituency DMDK candidate Michael S Rayappan to the electorate.
