ARIYALUR: A total of 34,251 persons, identified as the poorest among the poor, will get 35 kg of free rice with effect from June.
In a press release issued here on Tuesday, T.K. Ponnusamy, Collector, said that the district administration identified the eligible persons following the Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa's order in this regard. The district had got an allotment of 1,198 tonnes of rice for distribution to these eligible persons, he said.
This apart, the district administration had identified 1,78,232 family card-holders, (green type), who are eligible for 20 kg of rice.
The district administration had got an allotment of 3,390 tonnes.
The Collector inaugurates the scheme for distribution of free rice at the fair price shop at College Road in the town on Wednesday, the release added.
Pudukottai
A.Suganthi, Collector, said adequate quantum of rice had been stocked at the fair price shops for distribution to the eligible card-holders.
