Jayalalithaa chairs Cabinet meet

Chennai, May 30 : The Tamil Nadu Cabinet met here this morning and believed to have discussed a host of issues, including the schemes to be included in the Governor's address and implementation of poll promises.

Chaired by Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa, the cabinet is believed to have discussed about the schemes and policies of the new government that would find place in the Governor's address to be delivered in the House on June three.

State Governor Surjit Singh Barnala would make his customary address to the newly elected 14th assembly on June three.

Incidentally, this would be the Governor's last address to the House as his term is coming to an end later this month.

The Cabinet is understood to have discussed about the implementation of the AIADMK government's poll promises, especially the distribution of 20 kgs of free rice and procurement of gold coins for distribution to poor girls under the marriage assistance scheme.

Ms Jayalalithaa, on assuming office on May 16, signed seven files, fulfilling these poll promises.
